Indication
Diamicron MR (gliclazide modified release) is indicated for the treatment of non-insulin-dependent (type 2) diabetes mellitus in adults, when dietary measures, physical exercise, and weight loss alone are not sufficient to control blood glucose.
Ingredients
- Gliclazide 60 mg
Direction
Oral use. Usually one to two tablets once daily with breakfast. Tablets are scored and may be broken into two equal halves. Swallow the half or whole tablet without chewing or crushing. Follow your doctor's dosing instructions.
Side effects
- Hypoglycaemia
- Gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea and abdominal pain
- Skin reactions including rash and pruritus
- Elevated liver enzymes (rare)
- Blood disorders such as thrombocytopenia (rare)
Precautions
- Risk of hypoglycaemia
- especially in elderly
- malnourished
- or patients with renal or hepatic impairment
- Not suitable for patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment
- Contains lactose
- not suitable for patients with galactose intolerance
- Medicinal product subject to medical prescription
