Indication
Prosan is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults and children aged 6 years and above. It is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy, and for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Ingredients
- Losartan Potassium USP 50 mg
Direction
Take one tablet orally once daily, with or without food. The usual starting dose is 50 mg once daily. Swallow tablet whole with water. Dose may be adjusted by a physician based on blood pressure response.
Side effects
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Fatigue
- Hyperkalemia (high potassium levels)
- Back pain
- Upper respiratory infection
- Cough (less common than ACE inhibitors)
Precautions
- Not recommended during pregnancy โ can cause fetal harm or death
- Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
- Monitor potassium levels
- especially if taking potassium supplements or potassium
- sparing diuretics
- Avoid if history of hypersensitivity to losartan or any component
- Consult a doctor before use if you have liver disease
