Lostad Plus 50 mg / 12.5 mg

Indication

Lostad Plus is indicated for the treatment of hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on either losartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone. The fixed-dose combination provides additive blood pressure lowering effects.

Ingredients

• Losartan Potassium 50 mg
• Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg

Direction

Take one tablet orally once daily, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. Do not crush or chew. Dose should be individualized based on blood pressure response.

Side effects

• Dizziness
• Fatigue
• Electrolyte imbalances (low potassium or sodium)
• Increased urination (diuretic effect)
• Hyperkalemia
• Elevated blood urea nitrogen

Precautions

• Contraindicated in pregnancy — may cause fetal harm
• Contraindicated in patients with anuria
• Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment
• Monitor serum electrolytes periodically
• Not recommended for use with dual blockade of the renin
• angiotensin system
