Indication
- Urinary tract infections - Respiratory tract infections - Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia - Acute otitis media - Shigellosis and traveler's diarrhea
Ingredients
- Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim (Co
- trimoxazole)
Direction
Take orally with a full glass of water. Usually administered every 12 hours, preferably with meals to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
Side effects
- Nausea and vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Skin rash or hives
- Photosensitivity
- Diarrhea
Precautions
- Contraindicated for sulfonamide allergy
- Maintain high fluid intake
- Avoid during late pregnancy
- Monitor renal and hepatic function
- Risk of serious skin reactions
