Nifedi-Denk 20 Retard 20 mg

Indication

Nifedi-Denk 20 Retard contains Nifedipine in a modified-release (retard) formulation. It is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension and stable angina pectoris.

Direction

Adults: 20 mg twice daily orally, swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the tablet. The dose may be adjusted by a physician up to a maximum of 40 mg twice daily.

Side effects

• Very common: oedema (peripheral
• ankle).
• Common: headache
• dizziness
• flushing
• fatigue.
• Common: nausea
• abdominal discomfort
• constipation.
• Common: palpitations
• tachycardia.
• Uncommon: hypotension
• syncope.
• Rare: gingival hyperplasia.
• Rare: severe skin reactions.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in cardiogenic shock
• acute myocardial infarction (within 4 weeks)
• unstable angina.
• Contraindicated in combination with rifampicin.
• Contraindicated in patients with severe aortic stenosis.
• Avoid grapefruit juice (inhibits CYP3A4 metabolism).
• Use with caution in hepatic impairment.
• Do not abruptly discontinue.
• May cause peripheral oedema.
• Caution with hypotension.
