Advant 16 16 mg

Indication

Advant 16 contains Candesartan cilexetil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat hypertension and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction in adults.

Ingredients

• Candesartan cilexetil 16 mg

Direction

Adults: For hypertension, 8–16 mg once daily; may be increased to 32 mg once daily if needed. For heart failure, start with 4 mg once daily and titrate upward under medical supervision. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Common: dizziness
• headache.
• Common: respiratory infections.
• Uncommon: hypotension
• renal impairment
• hyperkalaemia.
• Uncommon: nausea
• diarrhoea.
• Rare: angioedema (stop immediately and seek emergency care).
• Very rare: leukopenia
• neutropenia.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in pregnancy (2nd and 3rd trimesters) and breastfeeding.
• Contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment or biliary obstruction.
• Do not combine with aliskiren in diabetic patients.
• Monitor serum potassium and renal function.
• Risk of hyperkalaemia
• especially with potassium
• sparing diuretics
• potassium supplements
• or ACE inhibitors.
• Risk of hypotension in volume
• or sodium
• depleted patients.
• Use with caution in renal impairment or bilateral renal artery stenosis.
