Nasal Spray (Generic, Compare to Afrin®) 0.05% Oxymetazoline HCl

Indication

This generic nasal spray contains Oxymetazoline, a topical alpha-adrenergic decongestant (comparable to Afrin) used for the symptomatic relief of nasal congestion due to colds, sinusitis, hay fever, or other upper respiratory allergies.

Ingredients

• Oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.05%

Direction

Adults and children aged 6 years and over: 2–3 sprays into each nostril twice daily. Do not use for more than 3–5 consecutive days.

Side effects

• Common: nasal burning
• stinging
• dryness
• and local irritation.
• Common: sneezing.
• Uncommon: rebound congestion with prolonged use.
• Rare: systemic effects (tachycardia
• hypertension) with excessive use.

Precautions

• Do not use for more than 3–5 consecutive days — risk of rebound nasal congestion.
• Contraindicated in narrow
• angle glaucoma.
• Use with caution in cardiovascular disease

• diabetes.
• Caution with MAO inhibitors.
• Not for use in children under 6 without medical advice.
