NUMOXYLIN CV 625 500 mg Amoxicillin / 125 mg Clavulanic Acid

Indication

NUMOXYLIN CV 625 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combination used for treatment of bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media, sinusitis, and skin and soft tissue infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing organisms.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 500 mg
• Clavulanic acid 125 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 40 kg: 1 tablet three times daily, or 1 tablet twice daily (high-dose regimen). Take at the start of a meal. Complete the full course as prescribed.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea (common).
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Skin rash.
• Candidiasis.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Allergic reactions (rare).

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with penicillin allergy or prior amoxicillin
• clavulanate
• associated jaundice.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.
• Risk of Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea.
• May reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives.
• May interact with warfarin and allopurinol.
