ERYTHRO-MS 250 250 mg

Indication

ERYTHRO-MS 250 contains erythromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used as an alternative to penicillin. It is indicated for respiratory tract infections, skin infections, whooping cough, acne vulgaris, chlamydia, campylobacter enteritis, and atypical pneumonia.

Ingredients

• Erythromycin 250 mg

Direction

Adults: 250–500 mg every 6 hours (4 times daily) or 500 mg twice daily for 5–14 days. Children: 30–50 mg/kg/day in divided doses. Take 30–60 minutes before meals or 2 hours after meals.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• and abdominal cramps.
• Diarrhoea.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Allergic skin reactions.
• QT prolongation (rare).

Precautions

• Contraindicated with cisapride
• terfenadine
• or pimozide.
• QT prolongation risk
• use with caution in patients with cardiac conditions.
• Significant drug interactions (CYP3A4): warfarin
• statins
• cyclosporin
• theophylline.
• Use with caution in hepatic impairment.
• Complete the full course of treatment.
