ECOLEVO-500 Levofloxacin USP 500 mg

Indication

ECOLEVO-500 contains levofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for community-acquired pneumonia, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, urinary tract infections (including complicated UTIs and pyelonephritis), skin infections, and anthrax (post-exposure).

Ingredients

• Levofloxacin 500 mg

Direction

Adults: 250–500 mg once daily (or 750 mg once daily for severe infections) for 5–14 days. Take with or without food, with a full glass of water. Maintain adequate hydration.

Side effects

• Nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort.
• Diarrhoea.
• Headache and dizziness.
• Photosensitivity.
• Tendinitis or tendon rupture (rare but serious).
• CNS effects (insomnia
• restlessness).
• Peripheral neuropathy (rare).
• Hypoglycaemia (especially in diabetics).

Precautions

• Not recommended in children and adolescents under 18 years.
• Risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture — discontinue if tendon pain occurs.
• QT prolongation risk
• avoid in patients with known arrhythmia.
• May lower seizure threshold.
• Avoid excessive sun exposure (photosensitivity).
• Antacids
• iron
• and zinc reduce absorption — take at least 2 hours apart.
• Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
