CEPHALEX-MS 500 Cephalexin 500 mg

Indication

CEPHALEX-MS 500 contains cefalexin (cephalexin), a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic indicated for bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and bone infections.

Ingredients

• Cefalexin 500 mg

Direction

Adults: 250–500 mg every 6 hours, or 500 mg–1 g twice daily for 7–14 days depending on the severity. Children: 25–50 mg/kg/day in divided doses. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort.
• Diarrhoea.
• Skin rash.
• Allergic reactions.
• Elevated liver enzymes (rare).

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with penicillin allergy (cross
• reactivity possible).
• Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
• Risk of Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea.
• Complete the full prescribed course of treatment.
