Roxigin 150 Roxithromycin 150 mg

Indication

Roxigin 150 contains roxithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used for treatment of respiratory tract infections (including community-acquired pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis), ear, nose and throat infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and urogenital infections caused by Chlamydia.

Ingredients

• Roxithromycin 150 mg

Direction

Adults: 150 mg twice daily (morning and evening), or 300 mg once daily, for 5–10 days. Take on an empty stomach, 15 minutes before meals, with a full glass of water.

Side effects

• Nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort.
• Diarrhoea.
• Abdominal pain.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Skin rash.
• QT prolongation (rare).

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• QT prolongation risk — avoid concurrent use of QT
• prolonging drugs.
• Drug interactions (CYP3A4 inhibitor): warfarin
• ciclosporin
• ergotamine
• digoxin.
• Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding — consult physician.
• Complete the full course of treatment.
