Indication
Used for the symptomatic relief of acute diarrhoea and chronic diarrhoea. Reduces intestinal motility to decrease frequency of loose stools.
Ingredients
- Loperamide Hydrochloride 2 mg
Direction
Adults: Initial dose 4 mg (2 capsules), followed by 2 mg after each loose stool. Maximum 16 mg per day. Discontinue if no improvement after 48 hours.
Side effects
- Constipation
- abdominal pain.
- Nausea
- vomiting
- flatulence.
- Rare: paralytic ileus.
Precautions
- Do not use in acute dysentery or conditions with blood in stool and high fever.
- Not for children under 8 years.
- Consult a doctor if diarrhoea is prolonged or severe.
- Ensure adequate fluid replacement.
- Keep out of reach of children.
