Colodium 2 mg

Indication

Used for the symptomatic relief of acute diarrhoea and chronic diarrhoea. Reduces intestinal motility to decrease frequency of loose stools.

Ingredients

• Loperamide Hydrochloride 2 mg

Direction

Adults: Initial dose 4 mg (2 capsules), followed by 2 mg after each loose stool. Maximum 16 mg per day. Discontinue if no improvement after 48 hours.

Side effects

• Constipation
• abdominal pain.
• Nausea
• vomiting
• flatulence.
• Rare: paralytic ileus.

Precautions

• Do not use in acute dysentery or conditions with blood in stool and high fever.
• Not for children under 8 years.
• Consult a doctor if diarrhoea is prolonged or severe.
• Ensure adequate fluid replacement.
• Keep out of reach of children.
