Zyrtec Allergy 1 mg of cetirizine dihydrochloride per ml (0.1% solution)

Indication

Zyrtec Allergy oral solution (cetirizine 1 mg/ml) is a second-generation antihistamine indicated for the symptomatic relief of allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial) and chronic idiopathic urticaria.

Ingredients

• Cetirizine dihydrochloride 1 mg/ml

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml (10 mg) once daily. Children 6–12 years: 5 ml (5 mg) twice daily or 10 ml once daily. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 ml (2.5 mg) twice daily. Administer with or without food.

Side effects

• Somnolence (drowsiness).
• Headache.
• Dry mouth.
• Fatigue.
• Dizziness (uncommon).

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
• dose reduction may be required.
• May cause drowsiness
• caution when driving or operating machinery.
• Avoid alcohol and CNS depressants.
• Use with caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Not recommended for children under 2 years.
