AMOKLAVIN-BID 200 mg / 28 mg

Indication

AMOKLAVIN-BID (amoxicillin + clavulanic acid) is a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It is indicated for bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms including sinusitis, otitis media, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 200 mg
• Clavulanic acid 28.5 mg

Direction

Children (weight-based): typically 40 mg amoxicillin/kg/day in 2 divided doses. Administer every 12 hours with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Shake well if suspension. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea (common).
• Nausea
• vomiting.
• Skin rash.
• Hypersensitivity reactions (up to and including anaphylaxis
• rare).
• Liver enzyme elevation (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins.
• Use with caution in renal impairment

• Can cause gastrointestinal disturbance
• take with food.
• May reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives.
• Complete the full course to prevent antibiotic resistance.
