Indication
AMOKLAVIN-BID (amoxicillin + clavulanic acid) is a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It is indicated for bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms including sinusitis, otitis media, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections.
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin 200 mg
- Clavulanic acid 28.5 mg
Direction
Children (weight-based): typically 40 mg amoxicillin/kg/day in 2 divided doses. Administer every 12 hours with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Shake well if suspension. Complete the full prescribed course.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea (common).
- Nausea
- vomiting.
- Skin rash.
- Hypersensitivity reactions (up to and including anaphylaxis
- rare).
- Liver enzyme elevation (rare).
Precautions
- Do not use in patients allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins.
- Use with caution in renal impairment
- dose adjustment required.
- Can cause gastrointestinal disturbance
- take with food.
- May reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives.
- Complete the full course to prevent antibiotic resistance.
