Cef-3 100mg / 5mL

Indication

Cef-3 is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used for treatment of bacterial infections including otitis media, pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 100 mg per 5 mL (oral suspension)

Direction

Adults: 200–400 mg once daily or in two divided doses. Children: 8 mg/kg/day once daily or in two divided doses. Shake well before use. Complete the full course as prescribed.

Side effects

• Diarrhea
• nausea
• abdominal pain (common).
• Headache.
• Allergic reactions including rash (uncommon).
• Elevated liver enzymes (uncommon).
• Clostridioides difficile
• associated diarrhea (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefixime or other cephalosporin antibiotics.
• Use with caution in patients with penicillin allergy due to possible cross
• reactivity (approximately 1–10%).
• Adjust dose in renal impairment.
• Prolonged use may result in superinfection.
• Keep out of reach of children.
