Indication
CLOPLAT (clopidogrel) is an antiplatelet agent used to prevent atherothrombotic events in patients with: recent myocardial infarction, recent ischaemic stroke, established peripheral arterial disease, or acute coronary syndrome (in combination with aspirin).
Ingredients
- Clopidogrel 75 mg (as clopidogrel bisulfate)
Direction
Adults: 75 mg once daily with or without food. For acute coronary syndrome, a loading dose of 300 mg may be used on the first day, then 75 mg once daily. Continue for the duration prescribed by physician.
Side effects
- Bleeding (most common side effect β bruising
- nosebleed
- gastrointestinal bleeding).
- Gastrointestinal disorders (nausea
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain).
- Rash (uncommon).
- Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (rare but serious).
Precautions
- Do not use in patients with active pathological bleeding (e.g. peptic ulcer
- intracranial haemorrhage).
- Use with caution in patients at risk of bleeding (surgery
- trauma
- hemostatic disorders).
- May interact with anticoagulants
- NSAIDs
- and proton pump inhibitors (particularly omeprazole).
- Discontinue 5β7 days before elective surgery.
- Keep out of reach of children.
