CLOPLAT 75 mg

Indication

CLOPLAT (clopidogrel) is an antiplatelet agent used to prevent atherothrombotic events in patients with: recent myocardial infarction, recent ischaemic stroke, established peripheral arterial disease, or acute coronary syndrome (in combination with aspirin).

Ingredients

• Clopidogrel 75 mg (as clopidogrel bisulfate)

Direction

Adults: 75 mg once daily with or without food. For acute coronary syndrome, a loading dose of 300 mg may be used on the first day, then 75 mg once daily. Continue for the duration prescribed by physician.

Side effects

• Bleeding (most common side effect — bruising
• nosebleed
• gastrointestinal bleeding).
• Gastrointestinal disorders (nausea
• diarrhea
• abdominal pain).
• Rash (uncommon).
• Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (rare but serious).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with active pathological bleeding (e.g. peptic ulcer
• intracranial haemorrhage).
• Use with caution in patients at risk of bleeding (surgery
• trauma
• hemostatic disorders).
• May interact with anticoagulants
• NSAIDs
• and proton pump inhibitors (particularly omeprazole).
• Discontinue 5–7 days before elective surgery.
• Keep out of reach of children.
