Indication
Treatment of hypertension and prophylaxis of stable and vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina pectoris.
Ingredients
- Amlodipine besilate 5 mg
Direction
Adults: 5 mg once daily. Dose may be titrated up to 10 mg once daily based on clinical response. Elderly patients: Start with 2.5–5 mg once daily. Take with or without food.
Side effects
- Peripheral oedema (ankle swelling).
- Flushing.
- Headache.
- Dizziness.
- Palpitations.
- Fatigue.
- Nausea.
Precautions
- Use with caution in severe aortic stenosis
- cardiogenic shock
- and severe hepatic impairment.
- Avoid abrupt withdrawal in angina patients.
- May cause vasodilatory hypotension
- particularly at initiation.
- Grapefruit juice may increase plasma concentrations — avoid.
- Monitor blood pressure regularly.
- Keep out of reach of children.
