Indication

A combination of two diuretics used to manage oedema (fluid retention) associated with heart failure, liver cirrhosis, or renal disease. Furosemide is a loop diuretic and spironolactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic.

Ingredients

• Frusemide (Furosemide) 2 mg per 5 ml
• Spironolactone 5 mg per 5 ml oral suspension
• 60 ml bottle

Direction

As directed by a physician. Doses vary based on condition, weight (for children), and renal function. Administer in the morning to avoid nocturnal diuresis.

Side effects

• Electrolyte imbalances (hypokalaemia
• hyperkalaemia).
• Increased urination.
• Dizziness
• hypotension.
• Rarely: ototoxicity (furosemide at high doses)
• gynaecomastia (spironolactone).

Precautions

• Monitor electrolytes (potassium
• sodium) regularly.
• Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
• Risk of hypokalaemia (furosemide) counterbalanced by hyperkalaemia risk (spironolactone).
• Avoid in patients with Addison's disease.
• Not recommended during pregnancy without medical advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.
