AZIGO-500 500mg

Indication

Azithromycin 500 mg is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections including community-acquired pneumonia, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, skin and soft tissue infections, and typhoid fever.

Ingredients

• Azithromycin 500 mg

Direction

Adults: 500 mg once daily for 3–5 days depending on the type and severity of infection. For specific infections, a single 500 mg dose or extended courses may be required. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain
• or vomiting.
• Headache.
• QT interval prolongation.
• Hepatotoxicity (rare).
• Allergic reactions including rash (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.
• Use with caution in patients with known cardiac arrhythmias or QT prolongation.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• Avoid concomitant use with drugs that prolong the QT interval.
• Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve.
