Indication

Paracetamol suppositories are used for the symptomatic relief of fever and mild to moderate pain in patients (primarily infants and young children) who cannot take oral medication.

Ingredients

• Paracetamol 100 mg

Direction

Insert rectally after removing the foil wrap. Dose adjusted by body weight (10–15 mg/kg every 4–6 hours as needed). A 100 mg suppository is appropriate for infants. Do not use more than 5 times in 24 hours. Consult a physician for precise dosing.

Side effects

• Rectal irritation at the site of insertion.
• Allergic reactions (rash
• urticaria) — rare.
• Hepatotoxicity in overdose.

Precautions

• Do not use with other paracetamol
• containing products.
• Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to paracetamol.
• Avoid in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• Overdose can cause serious liver damage.
• Consult a doctor if fever persists beyond 3 days.
