Indication

Kaleorid LP 600 mg is used for the prevention and treatment of hypokalaemia (low potassium levels in the blood), including that caused by diuretic therapy, vomiting, diarrhoea, or inadequate dietary intake.

Ingredients

• Potassium chloride 600 mg (slow
• release)

Direction

Adults: 2–4 tablets daily in divided doses, or as directed by a doctor. Swallow whole with a glass of water; do not crush, chew, or break the tablets. Take with or after food to reduce gastrointestinal upset.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting.
• Abdominal discomfort or diarrhoea.
• Oesophageal or intestinal ulceration (if tablets lodge without adequate fluid).
• Hyperkalaemia with excessive doses (muscle weakness
• cardiac arrhythmia).

Precautions

• Do not crush or chew
• swallow whole to avoid oesophageal ulceration.
• Contraindicated in hyperkalaemia and conditions predisposing to high potassium (e.g.
• severe renal failure
• Addison's disease).
• Use with caution with ACE inhibitors
• potassium
• sparing diuretics
• or NSAIDs.
• Monitor serum potassium levels during treatment.
• Consult a doctor during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
