Almex 400mg

Indication

Almex 400 mg is an anthelmintic (antiparasitic) medicine used for the treatment of intestinal worm infestations including roundworm (Ascariasis), hookworm, whipworm (Trichuriasis), pinworm (Enterobiasis), and for the treatment of tissue-invasive parasitic infections such as neurocysticercosis and hydatid disease.

Ingredients

• Albendazole 400 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 2 years: For intestinal worms — 400 mg as a single dose, which may be repeated after 2 weeks. For hydatid disease and neurocysticercosis — 400 mg twice daily for 28 days, in cycles as directed by a doctor. Take with food (especially fatty food to enhance absorption).

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting.
• Abdominal pain.
• Headache.
• Elevated liver enzymes (transient).
• Alopecia (hair loss) with prolonged use.
• Dizziness.
• Bone marrow suppression (rare
• with prolonged high
• dose therapy).

Precautions

• Not recommended during pregnancy (especially first trimester)
• use effective contraception during treatment.
• Perform liver function tests before and during prolonged treatment.
• Monitor blood counts with prolonged use.
• Use with caution in patients with liver disease.
• Not recommended for children under 1 year.
• Keep out of reach of children.
