Bridoxim dt Cefpodoxime

Indication

Bridoxim DT (cefpodoxime) is a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media, sinusitis, and skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Ingredients

• Cefpodoxime proxetil (strength not specified on label)

Direction

Adults: 100–200 mg twice daily. Children: 5 mg/kg twice daily (maximum 200 mg/day). Take with food to improve absorption. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• abdominal pain — common.
• Skin rash — uncommon.
• Allergic reactions — rare.
• Pseudomembranous colitis — rare.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment — dose adjustment required.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Complete the full course of treatment.
