Dosmectine 30 sachets

Indication

Dosmectine (diosmectite) is a gastrointestinal mucosal protective agent used to treat acute diarrhoea, chronic diarrhoea, and oesophago-gastro-duodenal pain associated with functional bowel disorders.

Ingredients

• Diosmectite 3 g per sachet

Direction

Adults: 1 sachet (3 g) dissolved in half a glass of water, taken three times daily. Children under 1 year: 1 sachet per day; 1–2 years: 1–2 sachets per day; over 2 years: 2–3 sachets per day. Take between meals.

Side effects

• Constipation — uncommon.
• Generally very well tolerated.

Precautions

• Must not be confused with other antidiarrhoeal agents.
• Keep well hydrated during diarrhoea — oral rehydration salts may also be needed.
• May delay absorption of other drugs — take other medicines 1–2 hours before Dosmectine.
• Keep out of reach of children.
