DIAMICRON MR Gliclazide 30mg/60mg

Indication

Diamicron MR is an oral antidiabetic agent (sulphonylurea class) used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, physical activity and weight reduction alone are not sufficient.

Ingredients

• Gliclazide 30 mg (modified release)
• Gliclazide 60 mg (modified release)

Direction

Adults: Starting dose is 30 mg once daily with breakfast. The dose may be adjusted by a physician up to a maximum of 120 mg once daily. Swallow tablets whole; do not crush or chew.

Side effects

• Hypoglycaemia (most important
• symptoms include sweating
• tremor
• dizziness
• confusion).
• Nausea
• diarrhoea
• or abdominal pain.
• Skin reactions (rash
• pruritus) — rare.
• Elevated liver enzymes — rare.

Precautions

• Risk of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)
• especially if meals are skipped.
• Contraindicated in type 1 diabetes
• diabetic ketoacidosis
• severe renal or hepatic failure.
• Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Avoid alcohol (may potentiate hypoglycaemic effect).
• Monitor blood glucose regularly.
• Keep out of reach of children.
