Clamoxyl 500mg Amoxicillin 500mg

Indication

Clamoxyl 500 mg (Amoxicillin) is a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic used to treat a range of bacterial infections including upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, ear infections, and H. pylori eradication (as part of combination therapy).

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin trihydrate 500 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 40 kg: 250–500 mg three times daily. Severe infections: 500–1000 mg three times daily. Complete the full prescribed course (usually 5–10 days). May be taken with or without food.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• or diarrhoea.
• Skin rash.
• Allergic reactions (ranging from mild rash to anaphylaxis).
• Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea.
• Yeast (candida) infections.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with penicillin or beta
• lactam allergy.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (dose reduction may be needed).
• May reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives (use additional contraception).
• Complete the full course to prevent antibiotic resistance.
• Keep out of reach of children.
