Indication
AMOKLAVIN-BID is a penicillin-type antibiotic combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor, used for the treatment of bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and ear infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin trihydrate equivalent to Amoxicillin 200 mg
- Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) 28 mg
Direction
Children: Dose based on body weight as directed by a doctor. Adults: For low-dose formulations, typically used as paediatric suspension; refer to prescribing physician. Take every 12 hours with a meal to reduce GI side effects.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Skin rash.
- Abdominal discomfort.
- Elevated liver enzymes.
- Allergic reactions including urticaria or anaphylaxis (rare).
- Candidiasis (oral or vaginal) with prolonged use.
Precautions
- Not for use in patients with known hypersensitivity to penicillins
- cephalosporins
- or beta
- lactam antibiotics.
- Use with caution in patients with history of penicillin allergy.
- May cause diarrhoea
- consult doctor if severe (possible Clostridioides difficile colitis).
- Use with caution in hepatic impairment
- monitor liver function.
- Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed.
- Keep out of reach of children.
