Indication

A first-generation antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis, hay fever, urticaria (hives), allergic conjunctivitis, and other allergic conditions. Also used for relief of itching and sneezing.

Ingredients

• Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg

Direction

Adults and children 12 years and over: 4 mg every 4–6 hours; maximum 24 mg per day. Children 6–12 years: 2 mg every 4–6 hours; maximum 12 mg per day. Children 2–5 years: 1 mg every 4–6 hours under medical supervision.

• Nausea
• gastrointestinal upset.
• Paradoxical excitability (especially in children).

Precautions

• May cause drowsiness
• avoid driving or operating machinery.
• Do not take with alcohol or other CNS depressants.
• Use with caution in patients with enlarged prostate
• glaucoma
• or urinary retention.
• Contraindicated in children under 2 years without medical advice.
• Use with caution in elderly patients (increased risk of sedation and falls).
• Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
