AXPRAZOL 0.5 Alprazolam 0.5mg

Indication

A benzodiazepine anxiolytic used for the short-term management of anxiety disorders, panic disorder, and anxiety associated with depression.

Ingredients

• Alprazolam 0.5 mg

Direction

Adults: 0.25–0.5 mg three times daily. May be increased as directed by a physician up to a maximum of 4 mg per day for anxiety or 10 mg per day for panic disorder. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration. Take exactly as prescribed.

Side effects

• Drowsiness

• Memory impairment
• confusion.
• Dizziness
• ataxia.
• Dependence and withdrawal syndrome with prolonged use.
• Depression.
• Paradoxical reactions (agitation
• aggression) especially in elderly.

Precautions

• Prescription medicine — use only as directed by a doctor.
• May cause physical and psychological dependence
• do not use beyond the prescribed duration.
• Contraindicated in patients with acute narrow
• angle glaucoma or myasthenia gravis.
• Contraindicated in severe respiratory insufficiency.
• Do not take with alcohol
• combination can be fatal.
• Avoid abrupt discontinuation
• taper dose under medical supervision.
• Avoid driving or operating machinery
• causes sedation.
• Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Use with caution in elderly patients (increased risk of falls).
• Not recommended for children under 18 years.
