CORTIDEX Dexamethasone Acetate 50mg + Chloramphenicol 2g Cream 8g

Indication

A topical combination of a corticosteroid and an antibiotic used for the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions with secondary bacterial infections, such as infected eczema and infected dermatitis.

Ingredients

• Dexamethasone acetate (concentration in cream not confirmed per standard references)
• Chloramphenicol (concentration in cream not confirmed per standard references)

Direction

Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2–3 times daily. Duration of use should be limited; consult a physician for prolonged use.

Side effects

• Local burning
• stinging
• or irritation.
• Skin atrophy
• striae with prolonged use.
• Hypopigmentation.
• Allergic contact dermatitis.
• Systemic corticosteroid effects with extensive or prolonged application (rare).
• Rarely: aplastic anaemia (chloramphenicol
• with systemic absorption).

Precautions

• For external use only.
• Avoid use on the face for prolonged periods.
• Do not use on viral skin infections (e.g.
• herpes
• chickenpox)
• fungal infections
• or acne.
• Avoid contact with eyes.
• Do not use under occlusive dressings without medical advice.
• Prolonged use may cause skin atrophy
• striae
• and systemic corticosteroid effects.
• Not recommended for use in children without medical supervision.
• Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Chloramphenicol carries risk of aplastic anaemia with systemic absorption
• use with caution.
