Cloxacap 500mg

Indication

Cloxacap contains cloxacillin, a penicillinase-resistant penicillin antibiotic used to treat infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci (Staphylococcus aureus) including skin and soft tissue infections, wound infections, osteomyelitis, and respiratory tract infections.

Ingredients

• Cloxacillin Sodium 500 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 500 mg four times daily (every 6 hours), taken 30–60 minutes before meals on an empty stomach (food reduces absorption). Severe infections: up to 1 g four times daily. Children under 12: dose by weight — consult a doctor. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting.
• Diarrhoea.
• Skin rash.
• Allergic reactions (urticaria
• anaphylaxis — rare but serious).
• Hepatotoxicity with high doses or prolonged use (rare).
• Oral or vaginal candidiasis.

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known allergy to penicillins or cephalosporins.
• Take on an empty stomach — food significantly reduces absorption.
• Serious allergic reactions including anaphylaxis may occur.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
• Prolonged use may cause superinfection with non
• susceptible organisms.
• Complete the full course to reduce risk of resistance.
• Keep out of reach of children.
