METRO-MS 250 250mg

Indication

METRO-MS 250 contains metronidazole, an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent used to treat anaerobic bacterial infections and protozoal infections including amoebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, and anaerobic bacterial infections.

Ingredients

• Metronidazole 250 mg

Direction

Adults: 400–500 mg three times daily for 5–10 days (depending on infection). Giardiasis: 250 mg three times daily for 5–7 days. Take with food to reduce GI irritation.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting.
• Metallic taste.
• Diarrhoea.
• Headache.
• Dizziness.
• Dark (reddish
• brown) urine (harmless).
• Peripheral neuropathy with prolonged use.

Precautions

• Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after completion — disulfiram
• like reaction may occur.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• May cause neurological adverse effects with prolonged high
• dose therapy.
• Not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy.
• May potentiate the anticoagulant effect of warfarin.
• Keep out of reach of children.
