ECOLEVO-500 Levofloxacin 500mg

Indication

ECOLEVO-500 contains levofloxacin, a third-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat community-acquired pneumonia, hospital-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, complicated urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis, skin and soft tissue infections, anthrax, and sinusitis.

Ingredients

• Levofloxacin 500 mg

Direction

Adults: 250–500 mg once daily (or 500–750 mg once daily for severe infections) for 5–14 days depending on the type and severity of infection. Take with or without food. Drink plenty of fluids. Take 2 hours before or after antacids, iron, zinc, or multivitamins.

Side effects

• Nausea.
• Diarrhoea.
• Headache.
• Dizziness.
• Insomnia.
• Photosensitivity.
• Tendinitis or tendon rupture (rare).
• Peripheral neuropathy (rare).
• QT prolongation (rare).

Precautions

• Not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years (except specific indications).
• May cause tendinitis or tendon rupture — risk increased in elderly
• corticosteroid users
• and transplant recipients.
• Avoid excessive sun or UV exposure — photosensitivity risk.
• May prolong the QT interval — avoid in patients with known QT prolongation.
• Use with caution in patients with epilepsy or CNS disorders.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment — dose adjustment required.
• Avoid concurrent use with antacids
