Fluzoral 200mg

Indication

Fluzoral (Fluconazole 200 mg) is an antifungal medicine used to treat and prevent fungal infections including candidiasis (oral, oesophageal, vaginal), cryptococcal meningitis, and systemic fungal infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Fluconazole 200 mg

Direction

Adults: 200–400 mg on the first day, followed by 100–200 mg once daily depending on indication, for the duration prescribed by the physician. For vaginal candidiasis: a single oral dose of 150 mg (or 200 mg). Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain
• diarrhoea.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Rash or skin reactions (discontinue if severe).
• Elevated liver enzymes (rare hepatotoxicity).
• QT prolongation and serious cardiac arrhythmias (rare).

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fluconazole or other azole antifungals.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment
• monitor liver function tests.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
• dose adjustment may be required.
• May prolong QT interval
• avoid in patients with known QT prolongation or taking drugs that prolong QT.
• Significant drug interactions: warfarin
• phenytoin
• cyclosporine
• rifampicin
• oral hypoglycaemics — monitor closely.
• Avoid use in pregnancy unless the benefit outweighs the risk.
• Keep out of reach of children.
