Indication
Giloba 40 mg (Ginkgo biloba extract) is a herbal medicine traditionally used to improve peripheral and cerebral blood circulation, and to relieve symptoms associated with cognitive decline, memory impairment, and peripheral vascular disease (e.g. tinnitus, dizziness, claudication).
Ingredients
- Ginkgo biloba leaf extract 40 mg (standardised extract)
Direction
Adults: 1 tablet 3 times daily with meals, or as directed by a physician. Do not chew — swallow whole with water.
Side effects
- Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhoea).
- Headache
- dizziness.
- Increased risk of bleeding (antiplatelet effect).
- Hypersensitivity reactions (rare).
Precautions
- Discontinue at least 36 hours before elective surgery due to antiplatelet effects.
- Avoid concurrent use with warfarin
- aspirin
- NSAIDs
- or other anticoagulants/antiplatelet agents.
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ginkgo biloba.
- Use with caution in patients at risk of bleeding.
- May interact with antidepressants (SSRIs) and anticonvulsants.
- Keep out of reach of children.
