CLOPLAT 75mg 75mg

Indication

CLOPLAT 75 mg (Clopidogrel) is an antiplatelet agent used to reduce atherosclerotic events (myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular death) in patients with acute coronary syndrome, recent myocardial infarction, or ischaemic stroke, and in those with established peripheral arterial disease.

Ingredients

• Clopidogrel 75 mg

Direction

Adults: 75 mg once daily with or without food. For acute coronary syndrome: a loading dose of 300–600 mg may be given initially under medical supervision. Take at the same time each day.

Side effects

• Bleeding (epistaxis
• bruising
• gastrointestinal bleeding).
• Gastrointestinal discomfort: nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Rare: serious or life
• threatening bleeding.
• Rare: thrombocytopenia
• TTP.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in active pathological bleeding (e.g. peptic ulcer
• intracranial haemorrhage).
• Contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment.
• Use with caution with NSAIDs
• anticoagulants
• or other antiplatelets — increased bleeding risk.
• Avoid concurrent use with omeprazole or esomeprazole (reduces efficacy via CYP2C19).
• Discontinue 5–7 days before elective surgery.
• Genetic CYP2C19 poor metabolisers may have reduced antiplatelet effect.
• Risk of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) — rare but serious.
