Indication

Labixten 20 mg (Bilastine) is a second-generation antihistamine used for the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (seasonal and perennial) and urticaria (hives) in adults and adolescents.

Ingredients

• Bilastine 20 mg

Direction

Adults and adolescents 12 years and over: 20 mg (one tablet) once daily, taken on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal). Do not take with grapefruit juice.

Side effects

• Headache.
• Somnolence (less frequent than older antihistamines).
• Dizziness.
• Fatigue.
• Rare: nausea
• abdominal pain.

Precautions

• Avoid taking with food or grapefruit juice as this reduces absorption.
• Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment.
• Minimal sedating effects compared to older antihistamines
• but caution is advised when driving.
• Not recommended in children under 12 years.
• Avoid concurrent use with ketoconazole
• erythromycin
• diltiazem
• or ritonavir (may increase plasma levels).
