Laroxyl 25mg 25mg

Indication

Laroxyl is a tricyclic antidepressant used to treat major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, and certain chronic pain conditions such as neuropathic pain and migraine prophylaxis. It is also used in the management of nocturnal enuresis in children under specialist supervision.

Ingredients

• Amitriptyline hydrochloride 25 mg

Direction

Adults: 25–75 mg daily in divided doses or as a single dose at night, increased gradually under medical supervision up to 150 mg/day if needed. Elderly: start at 10–25 mg at night, increase cautiously. Children (enuresis, under specialist supervision): dose determined by physician. Always take as directed by a doctor.

Side effects

• Dry mouth
• constipation
• urinary retention.
• Drowsiness and sedation (especially early in treatment).
• Blurred vision.
• Orthostatic hypotension (dizziness on standing).
• Weight gain.
• Cardiac arrhythmias (dose
• related).
• Confusion or cognitive impairment
• particularly in the elderly.

Precautions

• Do not use in patients who have had a recent myocardial infarction.
• Contraindicated in patients with severe heart block or arrhythmias.
• Do not use within 14 days of stopping an MAO inhibitor.
• Use with caution in patients with epilepsy
• glaucoma
• urinary retention
• or thyroid disease.
• May impair ability to drive or operate machinery
• alcohol should be avoided.
• Risk of suicidal ideation may increase early in treatment
• especially in younger patients — close monitoring is required.
• Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided
• taper dose under medical guidance.
