Dominox 30ml

Indication

Dominox drops contain domperidone, a dopamine antagonist used as an antiemetic and prokinetic agent. It is indicated for the relief of nausea, vomiting, and delayed gastric emptying, particularly in infants and young children.

Ingredients

• Domperidone 1 mg/mL

Direction

Dose is based on body weight. Typical paediatric dose: 0.25 mg/kg body weight up to 3 times daily, given 15–30 minutes before meals. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Consult a physician for appropriate dosing.

Side effects

• Dry mouth.
• Headache.
• Raised prolactin levels (galactorrhoea
• gynaecomastia with long
• term use).
• QT interval prolongation (rare but serious).
• Diarrhoea.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to domperidone.
• Contraindicated in patients with prolactin
• secreting pituitary tumours.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• Domperidone may prolong the QT interval
• avoid in patients with underlying cardiac conditions or on QT
• prolonging drugs.
• Not recommended for long
• term use without medical supervision.
• Avoid in patients with gastrointestinal haemorrhage
• mechanical obstruction
• or perforation.
