Cloplat 75mg 75mg

Indication

Cloplat 75 mg is an antiplatelet agent used to prevent atherothrombotic events in adult patients with established ischaemic heart disease, ischaemic stroke, or peripheral arterial disease. It is also used in combination with aspirin in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or following coronary stenting.

Ingredients

• Clopidogrel 75 mg

Direction

Adults: One tablet (75 mg) once daily, with or without food. In acute coronary syndrome, a loading dose may be given under medical supervision. Do not discontinue without consulting a physician, particularly if a stent has been placed.

Side effects

• Bruising
• bleeding at wound sites.
• Gastrointestinal bleeding (melaena
• haematuria).
• Nausea and abdominal discomfort.
• Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) — rare but serious.
• Skin rash or pruritus.
• Headache.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with active pathological bleeding (e.g. peptic ulcer
• intracranial haemorrhage).
• Contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• Use with caution in patients at risk of increased bleeding (trauma
• surgery
• concomitant NSAID or anticoagulant use).
• Discontinue 5–7 days before elective surgery if antiplatelet effect is not desired.
• Concomitant use of proton pump inhibitors (particularly omeprazole) may reduce efficacy.
• Patients who are CYP2C19 poor metabolisers may have reduced response to clopidogrel.
