Indication
Medixon 16 is a corticosteroid used for the treatment of inflammatory and allergic conditions including severe allergic reactions, asthma, autoimmune diseases, rheumatic disorders, skin conditions, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Ingredients
- Methylprednisolone 16 mg
Direction
Adults: Usual dose 4β48 mg per day depending on the condition, given in divided doses or as a single morning dose. Dose should be individualized and tapered gradually when discontinuing. Use as directed by a physician.
Side effects
- Weight gain
- fluid retention.
- Raised blood glucose levels.
- Mood changes
- insomnia.
- Osteoporosis
- adrenal suppression with long
- term use.
- Increased susceptibility to infections.
Precautions
- Do not stop abruptly after prolonged use
- taper dose under medical supervision.
- Increased risk of infection
- avoid live vaccines during treatment.
- May cause hyperglycaemia
- monitor blood glucose in diabetic patients.
- Use with caution in patients with hypertension
- peptic ulcer
- osteoporosis
- or glaucoma.
- Not recommended during pregnancy unless benefits outweigh risks.
- Keep out of reach of children.
