Fobancort 5g

Indication

Fobancort is a combination topical preparation containing an antibiotic (fusidic acid) and a corticosteroid (betamethasone valerate) used for the short-term treatment of skin conditions complicated by bacterial infection and inflammation, such as infected eczema and infected dermatitis.

Ingredients

• Fusidic acid 2%
• Betamethasone valerate 0.1%

Direction

Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2–3 times daily. Use for the shortest effective duration, typically not more than 2 weeks. Do not use under occlusive dressings unless directed.

Side effects

• Local burning
• itching
• or irritation.
• Skin atrophy or striae with prolonged use.
• Rare: systemic corticosteroid effects with extensive or prolonged use.

Precautions

• Not for long
• term use
• prolonged application may cause skin atrophy.
• Do not apply to the face
• groin
• or underarms unless directed by a physician.
• Avoid contact with eyes.
• Not recommended for use in children under 2 years.
• Do not use on infected skin not covered by the antibiotic spectrum (e.g.
• viral or fungal infections).
• Keep out of reach of children.
