Almex 400 400mg

Indication

Almex 400 is an antiparasitic agent used to treat intestinal worm infections including roundworm (Ascaris), hookworm, whipworm (Trichuris), pinworm (Enterobius), and other susceptible nematode and tapeworm infections. It is also used in the treatment of hydatid disease and neurocysticercosis.

Ingredients

• Albendazole 400 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 2 years: 400 mg (1 tablet) as a single dose for most intestinal worm infections. For hydatid disease or neurocysticercosis: 400 mg twice daily with meals for 28-day cycles separated by 14-day rest periods — follow physician instructions. Children under 2 years: not recommended.

• Elevated liver enzymes
• Alopecia (with prolonged use)
• Leukopenia (rare)

Precautions

• Contraindicated in pregnancy — albendazole is teratogenic.
• Perform pregnancy test before initiating treatment in women of childbearing age.
• Use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 1 month after.
• Use with caution in patients with liver impairment.
• Monitor blood counts with prolonged use due to bone marrow suppression risk.
• Not recommended for children under 2 years without medical supervision.
