Smecta 3g

Indication

Smecta is an antidiarrheal agent used to treat acute and chronic diarrhea in adults and children. It works by adsorbing toxins, bacteria, and gases in the gut, and by coating and protecting the intestinal mucosa.

Ingredients

• Diosmectite (dioctahedral smectite) 3 g per sachet

Direction

Adults: 3 sachets per day (1 sachet dissolved in 50 ml water, 3 times daily). Children over 2 years: 2–3 sachets per day. Children 1–2 years: 1–2 sachets per day. Infants under 1 year: 1 sachet per day. For acute diarrhea, the initial dose may be doubled. Stir well in water before taking.

Precautions

• If diarrhea persists for more than 2 days or is accompanied by blood
• high fever
• or severe dehydration
• seek medical attention.
• Use oral rehydration solution (ORS) concurrently to prevent dehydration.
• Leave an interval of at least 2 hours between Smecta and other medications
• as it may reduce absorption.
• Use with caution in patients with chronic constipation.
• Keep out of reach of children.
