Indication

Used in adults and children from 27 kg (about 8 years old) to reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain such as headache, flu-like symptoms, dental pain, muscle aches, menstrual pain, and painful osteoarthritis flare-ups.

Ingredients

• Paracetamol 500 mg

Direction

For oral use. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration. Adults and children from 50 kg may take 1 to 2 tablets per dose with at least 4 hours between doses, and should not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours. Children from 27 kg should use weight-based dosing. Without medical advice, treatment should not exceed 5 days for pain or 3 days for fever.

Side effects

• Severe skin reactions.
• Low white blood cells or platelets
• which may present as nosebleeds or gum bleeding.
• Allergic reactions including swelling of the face or neck
• breathing difficulty
• or anaphylactic shock.
• Diarrhea
• abdominal pain
• liver test abnormalities
• fixed drug eruption
• or bronchospasm.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to paracetamol or if you have severe liver disease.
• Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if body weight is under 50 kg
• or in kidney disease
• liver disease
• older age
• dehydration
• chronic malnutrition
• alcohol use
• G6PD deficiency
• or Gilbert syndrome.
• Do not combine with other medicines containing paracetamol.
• Consult a clinician before use with oral anticoagulants
• flucloxacillin
• or other medicines that may affect the liver.
