Indication

Used for cough and sputum.

Ingredients

• Dihydrocodeine bitartrate 5 mg
• Guaifenesin 50 mg
• DL
• Methylephedrine HCl 17.5 mg
• Chlorpheniramine maleate 1.5 mg

Direction

Adults: 2 tablets orally 3 times a day. Children 8 to 11 years of age: 1 tablet orally 3 times a day. Children 11 to 15 years of age: 1 to 2 tablets orally 3 times a day. For more details, refer to the enclosed circular.

Side effects

• Drowsiness
• sedation.
• Nausea
• vomiting
• constipation.
• Dry mouth
• blurred vision.
• Urinary retention.
• Palpitations
• tachycardia.
• Dizziness
• headache.
• Nervousness or excitability (especially in children).
• Skin rash or allergic reactions.
• Respiratory depression at high doses.

Precautions

• Do not use in children under 12 years old.
• Contraindicated in patients with severe respiratory depression
• acute asthma
• or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component
• including codeine
• type opioids.
• Use with caution in patients with hypertension
• cardiovascular disease
• hyperthyroidism
• diabetes mellitus
• or enlarged prostate.
• Do not use concurrently with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping them.
• Use with caution with CNS depressants
• alcohol
• sedatives
• or tricyclic antidepressants
• additive effects may occur.
• Dihydrocodeine is an opioid
• risk of dependence
• misuse
• and overdose with prolonged use.
• Chlorpheniramine may cause drowsiness
• avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.
