Flemex Carbocysteine Syrup 250mg 250mg/5ml

Indication

- Reduces the viscosity of thick, sticky mucus in respiratory conditions - Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) - Productive cough with excessive viscous mucus - Adjunctive therapy of respiratory tract disorders with mucus

Ingredients

• Carbocisteine 250 mg/5 mL

Direction

The usual adult dose is 750 mg (15 mL) three times daily, reducing as the condition improves; children's doses are lower and based on age. Take by mouth.

Side effects

• Nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort
• Diarrhea
• Skin rash
• Rarely
• gastrointestinal bleeding
• Rarely
• severe skin reactions (e.g. Stevens
• Johnson syndrome)

Precautions

• Avoid in active peptic ulceration
• Use with caution in patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease
• Some formulations contain alcohol or sugar—check before giving to children and diabetics
• Discontinue if signs of gastrointestinal bleeding occur
