Indication

- Long-acting injectable contraception (birth spacing) - Prevention of pregnancy

Ingredients

• Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate 150 mg/mL

Direction

Administered by a healthcare professional as a 1 mL (150 mg) deep intramuscular injection into the gluteal or deltoid muscle, repeated every 3 months (12-13 weeks). Shake the vial vigorously before use.

Side effects

• Irregular menstrual bleeding or spotting
• Amenorrhea (absence of periods) with continued use
• Weight gain
• Headache and dizziness
• Decreased bone mineral density with long
• term use

Precautions

• Not for use during known or suspected pregnancy
• Prolonged use may reduce bone mineral density
• Caution with history of breast cancer
• liver disease or unexplained vaginal bleeding
• Return of fertility may be delayed after stopping
