Indication
Treatment of intestinal worm infections
Ingredients
- Albendazole USP 200mg/5ml
Direction
Children 1β2 years (10β20 kg): 5 ml once daily for 3 days. Children 3β12 years (20β60 kg): 10 ml once daily for 3 days. Adults and children over 12 years (over 60 kg): 20 ml once daily for 3 days. Take with or after a meal. Shake well before use. Re-treatment may be considered after 3 months.
Side effects
- Common (prolonged therapy): nausea
- abdominal pain
- elevated liver enzymes.
- Uncommon: dizziness
- headache.
- Rare: reversible alopecia.
- Rare: bone marrow suppression (neutropenia
- agranulocytosis).
- Rare: hepatotoxicity.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to albendazole or benzimidazoles.
- Contraindicated in pregnancy (teratogenic)
- women of childbearing age must use effective contraception during and for 1 month after treatment.
- Not recommended for children under 1 year.
- Monitor liver function and blood counts during prolonged courses.
- Keep out of reach of children.
